Some great stuff here; I think every record is a new one to me? Humidity finally (kinda) broke up on my side of the state line. Hope it does for you soon as well!
Not sure what you mean by Bridgeview here. Glad to hear you've enjoyed some stuff within! A cold front came through this afternoon and Chicago is back in the 60s as I type, thankfully.
Yeah sorry, that was poorly worded. I juts meant that putting stadiums in (sometimes) distant suburbs doesn't always end well. The teams usually get what they want, but the people that live there have to pay for it. In Bridgeview's case, they got Toyota Park (or whatever it's called now), only to have the Fire leave to play at...Soldier Field.
As for the music, I'm especially digging the ones by a.me and wombo. Great stuff! I definitely hear shades of New Long Leg on the Wombo record.
Fair, no worries. Yeah, the main issue with the Bears/Soldier Field/Arlington Heights, from my perspective (and most of my social circle agrees) is that sports stadium investments are usually not all they're cracked up to be, and really there's no reason for Chicago to be spending billions in taxpayer dollars subsidizing one of the country's wealthiest sports teams when that cash could be invested elsewhere in things city residents need (other than the police). If Arlington Heights wants to court the Bears and give them the brib--I mean investments they're looking for ... bye, quit complaining about getting what you want, give us back that prime real estate and let's do something practical if not visually dazzling for the city instead.
I might actually head out (for the first time) to what's currently called SeatGeek stadium in Bridgeview later this month for a new jam band-y festival they're putting on there ... we'll see. Glad to hear you've been enjoying the issue too!
Soooo, no one learned anything from Bridgeview?
